You know summer is almost here when the South Bend Cubs opens their gates for the first home game of the season!

Pre-K Program Expansion

Looking for a high-quality, full-day Pre-K program for your little one? South Bend schools are now offering Pre-K at multiple elementary locations, making it easier than ever to find the perfect fit for your child!

2. Submit the SBCSC Pre-K enrollment form

3. Make sure your child is 4 years old by August 1

📅 Save the Date! Join the Pre-K Enrollment Fair on May 12 (3-7 p.m.) at Brown Administration Building Gym (737 Beale St.) for in-person help and info!

ICYMI: St. Joseph Huskies Clinch State Championship

“It’s the first boys basketball championship in program history for the Huskies and the first for a South Bend school since Clay in 1994…” Austin Hough at the South Bend Tribune sums up every South Bender’s experience upon learning the Huskies had finally clinched a state championship.

Another Redeveloped Block in the Bend: The Milkweed Project

South Bend is getting a glow-up! Milkweed Commons is a $5 million project that’s turning two historic buildings and an empty lot into a thriving hub for food, community, and nature.

The old Monarch Printing and Hope Ministries buildings are getting fresh life thanks to EmpowerHer Development, Milkweed Gardens, and Herstoric Properties. The plan? A shared community kitchen, a food market, and even a boutique hotel! And that empty lot? It’s set to become a lush green space with native plants, urban farming, and a gathering spot for locals.

South Bend is pitching in $350K for new roofs, and the project also snagged a chunk of a $3.7M grant. Work has already begun; by 2027, this corner of town will be buzzing with life!
